Aveda Products: Eco-Friendly, Super Gentle, and Cruelty-Free

aveda eco friendly plant-based products

Research shows that millennials are more conscious about the environment than older generations, and we know that you would rather choose to spend your money on eco-friendly, vegan, cruelty-free products.

As you might know, we are an Aveda Concept Salon, and we’re so proud to use their amazing cruelty-free, 97% vegan plant-based products. Aveda are a company that have made it their mission to be pioneers of holistic beauty and champions of environmental responsibility, and it all goes back to its founder.

Aveda’s founder, Horst Rechelbacher was a hair stylist who was a victim of his own success. He ended up chronically overworked, and turned to herbal remedies, meditation, and yoga to help him recover from burnout.

He went to a retreat in India where he discovered Ayurveda, and how wellness and balance in the body, mind, and spirit can help someone achieve their beauty goals. While he was in India, he was inspired to create Aveda, and to create products from botanicals that would benefit both the user and the planet.

Aveda product ingredients

Aveda uses naturally-derived, certified organic ingredients from botanicals wherever possible, but its commitment to making products that are kinder to us and kinder to the planet goes deeper than that.

All of Aveda’s products and formulated without nasties like parabens, phthalates, and sodium lauryl sulphate, and key ingredients can be traced from their source to make sure they’re both sustainable and high-quality.

Aveda is a company that cares

It cares about animals

Aveda is a cruelty-free brand that never tests on animals, and while its products are not certified Vegetarian or Vegan, most of them contain no ingredients that come from animals at all. A small number of products contain beeswax, honey, or whey-based protein.

It also uses Certified Wildlife Friendly paper to wrap its gift boxes, which protects the trees that are home to endangered animals like the snow leopard.

It cares about people

For the past 12 years, the company has bought handmade paper from Nepal to wrap its gift boxes. This has given almost 5000 papermakers an income, and the chance to rebuild their communities after a devastating earthquake in 2015.

It supports research

Every year, Aveda releases a limited edition version of its hand relief™ moisturising creme, and donates some of the funds raised to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More than $4 million has been raised since 2001.

Aveda also donates funds to cruelty-free research on the link between genetics, toxic chemical use, and breast cancer.
